Kimi Raikonnen Will Retire; the Finnish driver has announced his intentions of retiring at the end of the 2021 season, and will be leaving Formula 1 with one world championship title, 21 wins and will have 350+ starts at the end of the season.

The long-time sport veteran announced his intentions of retiring on Instagram, leaving many fans shaken in the process.

Raikonnen will have more than 1800 points by the time he leaves F1, after 20 years and 19 seasons in the sport. He is most notably known for his appearances in the Ferrari team (between 2007-2009 and 2014-2018). Unfortuantely Raikonnen has failed to gain many points in recent years, mostly caused due to the Alfra Romeo car fighting for positions at the back of the grid.

Raikonnen has very often said that Formula 1 is something he enjoys, and will leave the sport on his terms once he is ready. The Iceman has become a symbol of the sport and often produced funny moments that the fans could enjoy off-track.

The news now placed many questions over Alfa Romeo’s driver lineup. Some are speculating and linking Bottas to the newly vacant seat. Toto Wolff has mentioned multiple times that the news of Mercedes’ driver lineup for 2021 will come “soon.”
