- Lando Norris Cleared for Belgi ...
McLaren has confirmed that Lando Norris has been cleared to race for the Belgian GP on Sunday. Precautionary checks and an arm X-Ray for a possible elbow injury were performed.
“Following precautionary checks after an accident during qualifying at the Belgian Grand Prix, Lando Norris has been cleared to compete in the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix by the trackside doctor and FIA medical delegate.”
Lando Norris lost control of the car at the infamous Eau Rouge in Q3. Until that point, Norris had a tremendous qualifying session after scoring provisional pole in Q1 and Q2. Seconds before the crash, Sebastian Vettel called for a red flag due to the wet track conditions.

The wet track conditions could have caused aquaplaning, which may have exacerbated the situation. Most of the crash energy was absorbed by multiple spins before arriving at a complete stop. The session was red flagged while marshalls hauled the broken car off the track.
Lando complained of pain in his left arm/elbow, and so was sent for a precautionary X-Ray. It has now been confirmed that we will still see Norris in the race on Sunday. It is highly likely, however, that he will start from the pit-lane due to damage to the car.
Eau Rouge took took Anthoine Hubert’s life in 2019 at the F2 feature race. Due to the high-speed nature of the corner, modifications have been proposed to try and ensure that crashes are kept to a minimum.
